My journey into home renovations started unexpectedly after I finished school and landed my first job with a graphic design firm. While I enjoyed the work, I found that my real creativity came to life when I was renovating my own home in my free time. After purchasing my first property at 24 years old, I dove into sanding a very dated, ugly, pickled pine wall, and that’s when I realized the potential in the spaces around me. From there, I couldn’t stop moving from one project to the next. The sale of that first home gave me the funds to purchase another property, and soon, I made the leap to focus full-time on renovations, and then building, leaving behind my commute to the city.
Along the way, I also got my real estate license, which allowed me to sell the properties I was working on, giving me insight into what buyers were looking for. That perspective helped shape my designs, keeping them grounded in what would appeal to others.
After some time off to raise my three children, I returned to the field and partnered with my former neighbor, Lynne. We had built her home together, and we shared a deep passion for design and renovation. Looking back I had no idea where my art background would take me and here I am some 25 years later getting to do what I love every day!

My path to design and home renovation didn’t start in the most traditional way—I began my career as a mortgage underwriter in my family’s business. While I always had a passion for real estate, my early years were spent in retail, where I owned and operated a boutique. Managing every aspect of the business—from buying and merchandising to advertising and sales—taught me invaluable skills in design, branding, and customer experience. Those years refined my eye for detail and deepened my appreciation for aesthetics, creativity, and functionality—skills that would later translate seamlessly into home design.
As a stay-at-home mom, I found myself drawn to home projects, constantly redesigning and improving our spaces. I developed a deep appreciation for how thoughtful design could transform the way we live. What started as a creative outlet soon became a passion, and I realized I wanted to take it beyond my own home, which led me to discover how much I loved helping others bring their vision to life. This passion led to an exciting milestone—my house and my parent’s home were featured in Design NJ as a mother-daughter design team, highlighting our shared love for creating beautiful, functional spaces.
Aggie and I first met while building my home and simultaneously became neighbors. After many twists and turns, we reconnected a decade later and quickly realized we had a shared vision—to buy, renovate, and breathe new life into homes within our community. With that shared passion as our foundation, It was that defining moment that turned my passion into a career and we joined forces... Spruce & Bit was born.
